I am AkshatSethi and I was born on 28 November 1988 in Bhopal, India. As far back as I can
remember I was captivated by the concept of flight. The rumble of airplanes,
the view of airplanes soaring through the air—it all ignited something inside
me that led me to the career of my choice. Today, I am pleased to be a
commercial pilot by profession, presently employed under the aviation
department of the Government of Gujarat.
I started my
aviation career by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aviation, and then
obtaining a Commercial Pilot License. My initial significant work experience
was with Air India, which is one of the nation’s most distinguished airlines. I
was flying on all types of international long-haul and domestic short-haul
routes there. Those years I learned things of value—not only about aviation
mechanics or airspace procedure—but responsibility, working as a team, and what
it means to transport lives safely from point A to point B.
After my time
with Air India, I had the privilege to accept an even more specialist and
prestigious position as a government-appointed pilot for the state of Gujarat.
This career is accompanied by a unique sense of responsibility, and each flight
that I fly is accompanied by precision, discipline, and concentration. Whether
flying officials or working on priority flights, my focus is always on
delivering maximum safety and professionalism. The trust that is placed in me
is something I deeply value every day.
My profession is
aviation, but it’s also my passion. But I also have other interests that keep me
grounded in everyday life. I’m a music lover, and if I can, I’d rather discover
new locations—not just from above, but on the ground too. Travel always made me
aware of the diversity of cultures and points of view. For that reason, I’ve
also begun learning Gujarati and Punjabi, besides English and Hindi. These languages
assist me in relating to individuals from various areas, and that human
interaction is one that I deeply appreciate.
I’ve seen
increased web interest in “Akshat Sethi Pilot.” I’m grateful for the exposure
and see it as a reminder to be myself both off and on the flight deck. I don’t
view this exposure lightly. It encourages me to work even harder to become
better, to stay calm in a crisis, and to fly with honour every time.
Aviation is not just
a profession for me—it’s a vow. A vow of security, to the people whom we serve,
and to the cause that no matter how far we rise, we must never forget to remain
grounded by principles. I feel privileged each day to have the ability to share
my passion for aviation and be a small contributor to the constantly changing
aviation story of India.
